President’s Corner

Dear NCAIR Colleagues:

The NCAIR Board and I are excited to welcome you to NCAIR 2023 as we celebrate being “Back Together Again!” We look forward to seeing you in person over the next 2.5 days of learning, sharing, and connecting at the Asheville Renaissance Downtown.

Conference committee members have worked hard to create a memorable conference experience for all attendees. We have an incredible selection of pre-conference workshops, presentations, panel discussions, and vendors for you to enjoy. Of course, we can’t forget the beauty of Asheville, which you can enjoy at evening social events in the “Top of the Plaza.”

Please plan on attending the Business Meeting on Tuesday morning to help us select new Board members and to vote on proposed resolutions. Board members volunteer their time, their passion, and their sense of humor. No meeting is complete without amusing stories, jokes, and smiles. We work hard, but we have fun too.

I hope you are thinking about becoming an NCAIR volunteer. You do not have to be an official Board member to help move NCAIR into the future. You can share your ideas by emailing Board members, serving on committees, or helping with conference planning.

Thank you for your dedication to our field and our students. Their success is our success.

Kelly Smith, Ed.D

President-Elect’s Corner

Dear NCAIR Members,

As we approach the 50th anniversary of the NCAIR Conference, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my deepest gratitude to those who have already registered for the conference. Your commitment to this event is a testament to the importance of community and professional development in our field.

The theme for this year’s conference, “Back Together Again,” couldn’t be more fitting. After more than two years of virtual meetings and webinars, I know I speak for many of us when I say there is a deep longing for in-person events. The NCAIR Conference is not just any event; it is our primary opportunity to officially meet as NCAIR, to share ideas, meet individuals whom we would not otherwise meet, learn best practices from seasoned professionals, and learn about innovations from all.

The conference provides a unique platform for us to connect with colleagues and industry leaders from across the state, and it is an excellent opportunity to renew old connections and establish new ones. It is the perfect place to catch up on trends and developments in our field and to get inspired by the work being done by our peers.

In addition to the valuable networking opportunities, the NCAIR Conference offers various engaging and thought-provoking presentations and sessions on current and emerging trends in institutional research. By attending, you will gain insights into best practices, challenges, and innovations in our industry, which will help you in your work. The NCAIR Conference Committee already confirmed an all-day IPEDS workshop, a half-day PowerBI workshop, and a UNCSO Data Warehouse workshop.  All workshops are free for conference attendees.

At this year’s conference, we are excited to have the support of sponsors such as HelioCampus, Informer (Entrinsik), and Tableau. These sponsors will be present at the conference, and this will be your opportunity to talk one-on-one with their representatives. You will have the chance to ask them questions, learn about new products and services, and make valuable connections in the industry. As we begin to emerge from the pandemic, this year’s conference will be even more meaningful as we get to see each other in person and build a sense of camaraderie that we may have missed over the last years. Together, we can celebrate our profession and continue to push the boundaries of what is possible.

I look forward to seeing you in person at the conference.

Sincerely, Andrew
