Travel Grants

NCAIR provides professional development opportunities for our members throughout the year, culminating with the Annual Conference. The Executive Committee recognizes that financial constraints can impact one’s ability to attend the Annual Conference, so one way the organization can support our membership is to offer travel grants to attend the NCAIR Annual Conference.

Travel grants will be provided annually to one individual that represents each of our member-institution categories and will cover the cost of the current registration fee:

  • One Community College recipient
  • One Public Institution recipient
  • One Private institution recipient

Guidelines:

Eligibility: To be considered for the travel grant, you must:

  • Complete the Travel Grant Application (see below)
  • Demonstrate financial need through documentation
  • Explain how attending the Annual Conference will contribute to your professional development

Full details for the application process are available on the application form (see below). While all members experiencing financial need are encouraged to apply, priority will be given to first-time attendees for the upcoming conference.

Exclusions: Any member that has received the Travel Grant in the past three years is not eligible to receive an award. Additionally, current Travel Grant committee members are not eligible for this award either.

Grant Amount: The amount of the grant awarded will cover the cost of the registration fee for the Annual Conference. Only one award will be provided annually for each of the member-institution categories; unused funds will remain in the general NCAIR account.

Application Materials: The deadline for grant applications is January 15. Application materials may be found on on the NCAIR website (see below in application); however, the following is a summary of what will be required on the application:

  • Applicant’s name, title, college/university employed by, member-institution category, length of time in the field
  • Statement of Financial Need
  • Statement of how attending the Annual Conference will contribute to your professional development and any future activity in NCAIR

Selection of recipients:

Upon the conclusion of the application deadline, the Travel Grants Committee will identify recommended award winners.  This committee will be composed of the current NCAIR President, Treasurer, and one additional member of the Executive Committee.

Recommendations for final approval will be made to the NCAIR Executive Committee no later than January 31. Travel grant award recipients will be notified no later than February 15th. In the event the applicant is no longer planning to attend the conference, another applicant from the same member-institution category may be selected. Should the award go ungranted, the funds will be applied to the general NCAIR budget.

Recipients will be recognized at the Annual Conference, in electronic communications from the organization, and on the organization’s website.
